We are all familiar with the famed DOUBLE HELIX which describes DNA and its matched RNA. But do you know how they work? Of these Dr Chuck Missler says:
"A single double-helix contains the complete coded building instructions for synthesizing a human being, and his offspring; it has been compared to a library of 1000 volumes of 500 pages each.
"The DNA is a dynamic databank; its "tape" is continually being unwound and then rewound at thousands of different sites as the genes are made accessible and their information is copied by the cell's transcription machinery. ( For the RNA to copy a cell, the DNA which is wrapped around a spool has to be unwound, clipped out, copied, the original reinserted, the opening in the filament stitched up (by an enzyme called LIGASE) and rewound again. This unwinding process involves SPEEDS ESTIMATED AT APPROXIMATELY 8000 rpm, all done without tangling [the tightly wound, six feet filaments] of the DNA strand).
"Whenever the cell needs to divide, the entire tape must be split apart, duplicated and then repackaged for each daughter cell"
The DNA in this activity copies three billion base pairs of DNA at a time and trillions of times per day. (How the DNA does this without tangling up itself in the filaments is not known).
Dr Richard Swenson says;
"The DNA has a "spell checker" of sorts, an enzyme which examines newly copied DNA for errors and replaces them when found. When the error is not found you get a flawed DNA - a "mutation". This is thought to play a role in birth defects, mental disorders, cancer, diabetes, etc."
These flaws not only impact "hardware" (body parts) but "software" as well (brain chemicals that impact behavior, thought patterns and the autonomic electrical integration and connections of systems - circulatory, respiratory, and other physiological processes over which you have no conscious control. (The "fat" and "slim" genes also fall into this category, and how well do we know these! Some people can eat all they want and NEVER get fat. Others like me only have to "smell the food" and we put on weight!!
"There is only one error per billion copy steps. All of us carry a half a dozen defective genes. Ten per cent of these result in inherited genetic disorder. We do, however, carry two copies of every gene - one from mother, one from father. The normal gene is usually sufficient to protect us"
(this is one reason why near relatives are forbidden to marry).
